Hey everyone
I picked up a 94 gt a couple of months ago and shortly after the clutch started slipping under mild and hard acceleration but the trans shifted great with no grinds or problems getting into any gear. So i picked up a brand new oem clutch kit and flywheel and installed it this weekend by myself and believe me it was no fun job with 4 jack stands and 2 jacks lol. Before i installed the clutch the clutch pedal had good pressure and after i put the new clutch in the cable had tons a slack come to find out it popped off the upper hook on the quadrant (steeda) put it back on and still had to adjust the firewall adjuster out some to get the pressure back. While i was replacing the clutch the bottom of the trans mount that holds the 2 bolts to the crossmember so i called around to see if i could get a new one and NOONE had it in stock, being my DD i just put 2 wide washers in ther and new bolds just to hold it in place till i got a new one (i know stupid idea) but i cant be without a car. While i had the tranny off i noticed the motor mounts were pretty shot as the motor rocked back and forth pretty bad and they were cracked. The moral to this story is ive had the clutch in for a week now and it seemed to be doing good other than feeling alil different untill today. Well when im sitting still while the car is running its a b**ch to get it in 1st or 2nd sometimes impossible and sometimes (while moving) going from 2nd to 3rd, now it doesnt grind ever just hard to get it in. The clutch seems to engauging and disengauging properly. Upon clutch install i propperly torqued everything down, flywheel required 75-85 i did 80lb, pressure plate 12-24 and i did 22lb. I also replaced the TO bearing and pilot bearing. Could my problems be due to the tranny and motor mounts being bad or on a serious note the syncros going bad, or did i do something wrong. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated cosidering this is my daily and dont really have the money to do any major work. thanks john

I adjusted it some more today and theres no free play in the pedal anymore, and it helped the 1st and 2nd gear problem but still it hesitates to go into 3rd. This is my first clutch install and im still learning. The clutch pedal is tight now, do you think i should adjust it more to see if it helps the 3rd gear problem. I just dont want to burn up the new clutch i just put in lol!

you probably dont want to get it much tighter, you need a very slight amount of freeplay. if not the clutch will slip, what kind of fluid is in the tranny? if somebody filled it will gear oil it will shift like crap.

Dextron III, its a brand new clutch so it should be catching closer to the floor and not towards the top right? If so i have adjusted it to tight but, wouldnt i smell the clutch slipping? I have friends that kno what they are doing but they always want money for helping and i really am not not in the position to give any money hence so many ?'s

Ok i have adjusted the firewall adjuster as the instructions say. A dime size gap between the cable and firewall adjuster. So now it seems to working somewhat right now but, the clutch pedal doesnt feel as firm as i like it, is there a way to fix that? After adjusting it where it needs to be the TO bearing is whining what do i do about that? Everything is brand new soo im very pluzzeled.
