Hey guys. I recently installed my system but it only pounds and thats it. With the volume low, they dont make a sound, then when i turn the volume up, the subs kick in and pound loud. How do i need to tune my amp to get them to play on low settings too? :dontknow:

And by the way, I have the gain and bass eq on its lowest setting. They are two JL Audio 10wx subwoofers, and an Alpine MRP-450. I have the subs wired in parallel to the amp. Even with the controls on the lowest setting, once i turn the volume up half way, the subs just kick in and come in really loud.

what did you do for surrounds(doors and such)? amps, speakers, and how are they wired off deck(rca, speaker wire)?

Well I used to have another system with the stock headunit that sounded great and I had tapped into the speakers in the back, but now i have a new headunit and it doesnt seem to sound right.

if you are still using your rca's off the rear speaker thats your problem you need to run them up to the deck in the sub outs that way you can tune the sub to your liking and keep everything else the way it should be. for the time being since its off the rear speakers you could just fade more to the front to kill out some off the bass.

well I tried both ways...i tried the rca's out of the back and out of the back of the head unit...this couldn't be a sign of a bad amp could it?

after looking at your amp online my suggestion anyone feel free to correct me im not a comp audio builder by no means but your lp filter needs to be some where between 80-100.... need to turn the bass eq down a bit ....then adjust the gain to the bass level you like at the volume of your choice. the rca's are bes ran out of the deck.... what deck are you running by the way that would help a bit. and just a small suggestion because i know you have the speakers ran parallel to each other on the speaker wires coming out of the amp try to switch them it will bridge them since you have a mono block and should drop the ohms down a bit to clear the bass out a bit. hope this helps a little let me know what deck you have and i will try to help you. i have a very similar set up in my car.

the deck has dedicated sub pre outs hook the sub up to that and mess with the eck settings and as far as switching wires i ment the pos and neg switch them around and it will bridge the amp and drop the ohms down. you an either switch them around on the amp or keep them straight pos to ps and neg neg going to the first sub then on the second sub go pos neg on both of them esitually does the same thing but it wont bridge the amp it will just drop the ohms on the sub. and taking it to a shop would work also the draw back to that would be if you disconect the battery it will reset the deck so you would have to mess with that. best bet is to play with it till you get it to where you like it and remember all the settings.
