Well I need help in figuring out my problem. I just finished a massive P.I. swap and it runs great, but when I get even a little on the gas it smokes badly. I have bbk valve covers on it and they have no baffles. I'm finding oil in the pcv valve as well as the vacuum line going to it, also oil in the cold air intake, and the two hoses going to that. Just had it on the dyno today and it runs great 252 at the rear wheels. Now the motor has about 130,000 miles on it, but before the swap never smoked at all. Until the P.I. swap. I know everyone thinks it might be blow by, but I really dont want to think that, there has to be something else. Maybe the oil pressure is to high and I need baffles in the valve covers, the reason I say this is you can pull out the pcv when its running and see the oil squirting out of the valve covers. Thanks for any help.

baffles are really needed... the PVC is located in a terrible spot. Were the heads reconditioned?

They were reconditioned 1200 miles ago, before putting them on the car I got them off of.

I would fab up some baffles and see if that helps... Try getting a catch can to stop the direct oil consumption.

yea you really need a pcv oil strainer then... also buy another pcv it could be sticking on you. Also, clean out that oil in the intake and stuff thats never good. Have you don't a compression test on it? Might be worth the time and money to take it buy a shop and get a leak down test done to it... more than likely tell you your problem with rings or heads.

Now onto the other problem... those valve covers need to go. They suck, besides leaking out around the gasket that i've never stop hearing ... come on no baffle ... wtf lol Seriously though, i would look at going with the stock valve covers.

I just wanted to say thanks for all the help and advice. I found out the problem was the valve covers they have no baffles. I put the stock ones back on and no smoke at all. I guess the 4.6 needs a set of baffles real bad to run right. I called bbk and no help on the phone, they said never heard of that problem before. Yet if you look it up on the web its all over the place. Now I need some help again, I either want to make baffles or cut them out of the stock valve covers. The stock ones are held in place with glue, i have no clue of what kind of glue will hold, help.

there are certain epoxies that will hold up to heat and oil... go to your local parts store and check them out ;)
