ok guys i think i know the answer to this but just want to clarify...

what will cause you to seel oil pressure at the gauge, but not be getting oil to the valve train.... rockers, etc????

i got everything lined up and started my car up today with the new engine in and it was rattling like hell.. i thought that maybe the valves needed adjusting so i pull the intake and passenger side valve cover and im seeing no oil.....

you're already that far into it, pull the distributor and hit it w/ the drill again and see what you've got and go from there. did you fill the oil filter w/ oil before you installed it? new pushrods, or at least clean the old ones w/ a wire?

yes..... im seeing pressure at the gauge... i pulled the sender and there is oil there so obivously its pumping but something is blocking it from getting to the lifters, rockers, etc... yes pushrods are almost new.... i had this engine in my old car just freshened it up and added 1.7 rockers.....

unless you've got a bad ass drill it can take what seems like 10 mins to get oil to the top of the motor when you 1st prime it.

Better hope you didn't **** up the bearings or something else in there running it that long with no oil to the top of the motor. FYI if you are not getting oil to any part of the engine DO NOT run it until you figure out the problem. Always prime the motor with a valve cover off until you see oil coming out. If you don't then something is wrong. I used an air drill(actual drill not an impact gun lol) to avoid detonating yet another cheap chinese jobber from home depot, plus the air drill will turn like a mofo as long as you have air pressure behind it.

no the motor is fine... it had oil everywhere except to the rockers... the lifters had oil as did the cam bearings and main bearings... i had about 50 lbs at the gauge.... i got it fixed and runs pretty good.... needs a tune very badly dosent hardly want to idle but running down the highway its fine.... cant wait to get it tuned and see what it puts down....
