I've seen on different forums that you can get Bilstein Shocks & struts rebuilt or re-valved for $75 each. Has anyone had this done? What was your experience.

When I go to Bilstein's site it shows two different prices for this.

Rebuild: replace o rings, seals, wipers, & oil for struts $85 each

Re-valve: replace Seals, o rings, wipers, and oil for $110 each

When it appears what they do is the same why does re-valve cost $25 each more.

Thanks, Dave

revalving means they have to change some of the internals, and rebuilding uses all of your "hard parts". Now, these prices also do NOT reflect if they have to replace any parts that are damaged. In my past experiences, i have never had a shock/strut just rebuilt. Any knicks, scratches ect in the main shafts means they will also be replaced, at a fee. If the shock/strut has been bottomed out too hard too many times it can also mean new parts inside. I once sent my set of Tein struts to them to be rebuilt, and their final cost was more then a new set would cost. I would contact Bilstein and discuss this process direct, with them, before you decide what will be best for your wallet
