Need Opinions... Which Power Adder???

The time has come that I have got to get some power out of my rediculously slow 97 GT. The car is pretty much bone stock. It has an offroad X pipe, Flowmaster catback, K&N, and a MGW shifter. I have been reading up a lot on which route I should go, but I'm really having trouble deciding which direction I should go in. Every way seems to have its own strengths and weaknesses. I've found a deal on a PI intake, install kit, PI cams, Trickflow plenum, Trickflow TB, and CAI for $550. But I'm not sure if I should go for it or not. Should I do this? I'm mainly looking for opinions on which power adder I should go with. My power goals are around 400RWHP, give or take 20 or so. I want to stay under $4500 for everything, but that's slightly flexible. I've been looking at Kenne Bell setups, and that's definately the nicest and cleanest setup IMO. But they don't make a kit for a 96-98 GT anymore, and I don't want to swap to PI heads. Could I do the RTV in the coolant passages and make the Kenne Bell work on NPI heads? Or should I just get the PI intake, cams, etc and slap a Vortech on it? If I do this, what Vortech setup should I be looking for? I definately want one that is internally lubricated though.

EDIT: I will NOT do any Nitrous!!!

Thanks for any and all help!!!

If I HAD to, I could spend up to $12,000 on making the car a beast. But I really don't want to drop all of my money into the car. I can live with spending $4500, not so much if I spent $12,000 on it lol. I won't use any nitrous, but i've also been thinking about a good quality turbo kit. I've been researching on3, but they seem to have too many problems and I want to do this car RIGHT.

Vortech V3si. You can have the whole setup on and tuned for less than $4500 and be pushing 400rwhp.

I don't think he will with a stock NPI engine.

I've seen NPI's with Turbo's and Centri's max out with 12psi @ 350rwhp.

The stock intake/cams are just bottle necks to the boost.

My 96 when it was new had a hard time getting over 280rwhp with a Vortech kit and 8 psi. Now that was back in the FMU days and tuning was archaic at best. I sold the blower and made out better with a PI swap and some Comp 262ah's. It made less rwhp but was more fun to drive.

you really just need the pi intake to wake them up a ton.... cam swap and you can make more power than pi.

I ran 12 psi on my npi with a pi intake with no problems. The npi motor has lower compression so its less prone to detonation. Aka the biggest reason these cars lose pistons / ring lands.

Your really not limited with the npi, your limited by the stock bottom end.

Well, I just put the money through on the ported PI intake, install kit, Trickflow plenum, 75MM TB, and PI cams/bolts. That should be enough to get the car to respond well to boost. I rode in a 2000 GT with a V2 aftercooled setup today, and it definately pulled smooth and pretty hard. I'm sold on going with a V3 blower.

What were your numbers with 12 PSI on your NPI?

I dk man that was so long ago I forget what it was even like and it was tunes on the street. I will say that it probably would have trapped 117-118 MPH....probably made close to my pi setup to be honest

I would have guessed around 360-370 rwhp but I made 385 with the pi motor.

Thats probably close to what you would have made on 12psi. My neighbor was making @330rwhp with a 982V PI Intake/Cams and 9 psi V1

I've got a p1sc and mine made 341 rwhp and 368 rwtq on a Mustang Dyno. I am not sure on the psi. The pulley made 8 before I put the power pipe on. Now its like 9 maybe 10 psi. The car runs wwwwwway better getting rid of the fmu. If you do cams, it will def wake the npi up.

Those numbers would probably satisfy me. Isn't the FMU pretty much not needed if you have a good tune?
