A buddy of mine just got a 1995 cause i took him for a ride in mine and he has some money to play with and came to me with a question on a setup.. He has his eyes set on a Vortech S-trim but thought about doing a H/C/I also.. He basically has everything stock except an Holley intake and just the regular bolt-ons.. I told him to go with the H/C/I, but told him i would get some more opinion.. The s-trim is 1300 and comes with everything.. And the Heads and cam he is looking at is about the same.

I know most people are going to say the sc. My .02 would be the h/c/i because boost is adicting and once you take the boost too high he is going to lift the heads or blown gasket. If that happens he will have to take the head or heads off then he will want an h/c/i. Work from the enside out.

Blower first, no question. It's easier and cheaper to install, will net more power, and be more drivable. Stock Mustangs can lives for years and tens of thousands of miles with a mild blower setup.

I told him that if he goes boost to go around 8lbs.. that sound about right? And would 1.7 roller rockers give his stock cam alil more lift? and help him out some?

I wouldn't even bother with the rockers. Spend the money on fuel system and a good dyno tune. When the time comes, he can buy good heads with stud-mount rockers.

And yes, 8 psi should be fine.

He could use 30s for good measure. There's fuel injector calculators all over the internet to figure that stuff out. I'd use a BSFC of .58-.62 when making the calculations, and an injector duty cycle of 80% so that there is plenty of "safety margin."

what kind of power is he looking for? If he just wants it to be faster (the easiest way), then do the S/C. But if he wants more out of the car then do the H/C/I then do a S/C in the future..

I just talked to him and he said if he does superchrager he would be doing a supercharger cam from Anderson.. So i threw out the whole head thing and told him get could get a set of gt40s for a good price and started looking and found a pair for 400 shipped... So what you guys think about that set up with eith 30 or 42 lb injectors.. cause i have those 42s i could sell him.

Holley intake
Gt-40 heads
Either custom cam or anderson ford cam
42lb injectors
Vortech S-trim pushing 8lbs

Those heads would be leaving some significant power on the table. A set of AFR 185s, TFS TW, or similar would make significantly more power.
