needs motor/to good to be true?????

OK i have a friend that's willing to sell me his 96 gt with a blown motor... now he says the trans is new/rebuilt, an has all new shocks an struts. he is willing to sell the car to ME for $250. to me that seems like its too good to be true, what all do i need to look for when i go check the car out to see if all it really needs is a new motor or if i wont just be dragging home a over sized lawn ornament????

250 dollars for a rolling chassis with a new tranny? Sounds like a really good deal to me.

even if the tranny is shot that still a good deal as long as the body is in good shape I bought my motor complete out of a 02 gt w 30,000 miles for 250 so if you found a deal like me you could have a car for 1k or less.........do it

As long as it is not a rust bucket then do it, you can find a 4.6 Engines at decent prices...

I would drop a 4.6 3V from a 05+ Mustang. Easy swap and tons of potential in that engine.

Has anyone done this swap besides MMR with tha SALEEN race car?

I would buy it in a heartbeat. Then I would swap a PI 4.6 with those new trick flow heads, some cams and a good intake, add blower and wipe up some LS1's with it.

Logan Motorsports had a few customers do it with good results. It used to be a PITA but with all the swap parts available from them and MMR its fairly easy. Now getting a 3.4 Whipple in one of our cars just got that much easier
