As the title says. I will be picking up my new (to me) bone stock 1994 mustang GT

I plan to put my time and money into it, turning some wrenches and want to get to 400hp N/A as quickly as possible. Immediately I will be putting on new wheels (race gold ultralegga OZracing :notworthy:), tires, 4:10 gears, suspension but not sure exactly what yet, sway bars, K&N intake (not cai), cat back exhaust... But I want more. The power bug has bitten me, but I know I can't just go too crazy. I want to be "quick", but not necessarily extremely "fast".

So what would be the cheapest and most effective ways to get to around 350-400horses? (N/A)

I would set a goal that is more ..in the near future. For 400rwhp it will take a good while and if you set multiple goals along way it will seem like it goes by faster

Simple. Cut a hole out in the floorboard, insert legs through hole, put car in neutral, and run as fast as you can.

All you people with turbos, superchargers and nitrous are idiots for not figuring this out sooner.

400 N/A...no problem

I'd do a 347. If your block is in good shape and you can deal with the downtime, buy a kit and have a machine shop do the work. Otherwise, if you can't have the car down for a while, get the shortblock.

Don't be afraid of compression, run 10.5-11:1.

Stock block
CHP 347 kit 5.315 long rod/3.400 stroke and a good forged piston.
Long tube BBK 1 3/4" headers
Edelbrock Victor 5.0 or a Victor Jr EFI (carb style) style with a 90 degree elbow
AFR 205cc heads
Custom cam (I like Ed Curtis @ Flowtechinduction.com)
36lb or 42lb injectors
75mm throttle body minimum

Done.

Just a suggestion... Pick up another roller block and engine stand and build it that way. So you dont have to worry about down time and can swap everything at once. Just for the simple fact that shi* happens, and next thing you now the weekend turns into weeks/months etc.

Meh, I'd take the big Windsor, but that's mostly because I *heart* them, and have daily driven them before. Monster cubes = Awesomeness

Once it's in the cylinder it breaks down into oxygen, it's like N/A lol.

I'd like to know where you guy's get these arbitrary power goals from?

Yeah I think the 347 is the best way to go, build it then swap it out. I'll be doing that and just letting my 302 sit stock for a while, giving me something to work on while I can work on the rest of my car also, allowing me to utilize my 347 when I have it built.

what is your budget, just from reading your post it seems 400whp N/A for you is not going to be easy.

you'll need more cubes, compression, lumpy cams, big port heads, and TUNING.... by then your car wont be very fun to drive and you'll have tons of driveability problems with the 94-95 computer, and you'll likely be thousands of dollars upside down in the car.

OR you could do a mild H/C/I setup and bolt a blower on, all for a few grand and be over 400whp with alot better curve, no driveability issues, but different strokes for different folks.
