So my last engine finally let go. I picked up a 97 explorer motor. Freshened it up, put all my goodies on it and dropped it in the car. Starts idles fines drives fine. Cruises around town fine. Wot it goes nowhere. After 3000 ish the rpms climb very slow. Cleaned maf. No help. Warrantied it out. Didnt help. If i unplug the intake temp sensor. Engaging open loop. It runs greate. Looking for suggestions on where to start. No cel before unplugging temp sensor. Will scan for codes tommorow.

I think I know what the problem is .. The intake coolant temperature sensor controls the fuel injectors and choke so when cars cold it opens choke and more fuel .. Worked on a older 89 toyota that had one go bad and had a erratic idle surge . I would say your intake coolant temperature sensor is bad JMO

Been working on this problem. Nothings has helped so far. Tps voltage ok. Act cts ohm ok. 02 sensors give me lean codes. Plugs are still white no color to them. Im starting to think i have a fuell delivery problem. Ive checked fuel pressure twice first day 30 with vacume 37 without. Dropped to 26 while holding rpms at 3500. Day 2 30 39 28 At 3500 it has a new filter.

The more i drive it the Less power it has until i shut it off and let it cool down.
