New guy here from CA

Hey guys,
I am new here and just wanted to introduce myself. I live in Northern CA, near Folsom, and recently picked up a 1999 GT coupe. I am hoping I didnt get in over my head but this is definitely going to be a project. The car has about 140K on it, 5spd and looks better in the pics then in person, lol.
As you can see, it has a Saleen body kit which im not to fond of and plan to go back to stock after I fix the bigger issues.

Welcome!! Like that color. You don't like the Saleen kit? I wonder how a 01 cobra front would look with that kit. Are those Steeda wheels btw? You can make a build thread for your stang over in the build ups/ projects section.

Thanks. I like the kit it just isnt in the best of shape. I may try and clean it up and see how it looks with a new front bumper since its destroyed. Yeah, I believe they are Steeda's.

When I got it, it had a misfire. I changed out the broken coil pack and think that issues is fixed. I think there is a vacumm leak somewhere, so I have to track that down. The RPM's seem to hang around 1500 before dropping to idle when it is revved up. It is missing the oil dip stick, both inner fender wells, need 4 tires, and some serious TLC on the body and paint and it needs some moldings for the rear window. Have to do brake pads and rotors, The heater core is bad, needs a coolant flush and have to fix a leaking power steering line. There are probably a few other things I need to do as I come across them. There seems to have been some recent head work done on the drivers side because the head is really clean, I was thinking maybe a head gasket repair but i dont know for sure.

So far, It runs A LOT better then when I got it so I am a little happier about it. I thought I might regret buying it for $1500 but time will tell. I replaced the motor mounts, changed the oil, changed the plugs and replaced a faulty coil pack which allowed me to clear the CEL (misfire). I havent been able to actually drive it yet because the flat tire and the registration is expired but I plan on getting those taken care of this week and hitting the street to check everything out. I think its gonna need a clutch soon as well and maybe a fly wheel (resurfaced at the least).

It does have a few upgrades I have noticed so far: BBK throttle body, MM rear control arms, C & L intake plenum and Steeda Wheels.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. I got the car to start again but now it seems the head gasket might be blown as there is white smoke coming from the exhaust.
