Hello, new here from se WI.
Was always a fox body guy and a year ago I got my 99 GT. I have done a lot to it over the last year, mostly maintenance and just going through the whole car and fixing all the small details. But have also done some repairs and improvements. Just got done welding in sfc’s, new intake manifold…guess why lol. Beyond that next winter I have long tubes to put on along with all maintenance items to replace while I’m in there. And I plan to get some suspension components to do next winter as well. Beyond that, I plan to sc it with a kenne bell at safe factory levels for awhile til I break or I just need more. Then I’ll forge the bottom end.
Anyways, that’s me, my car, and my general plans.
I look forward to learning from all of you as well as contributing any knowledge that I have as well.

Welcome to the forums!

Passing on a little info, make plans to do the suspension first and include a tubular K-member BEFORE doing the long tube headers. The long tube headers are very possible with the stock K-member but you will become sick and tired of the car installing them. The aftermarket K-member opens up ALOT of space where the factory does not and getting them headers to fit in such a tight pace without banging around on other metal. Most have to break out the BFH(hammer) and dent up their headers to make them fit. Also, just saying, long tube headers only offer a 20hp increase....naturally aspirated or forced induced. I mean 20hp is a good bump, but installing and working around them in these cars I feel isnt worth the headache...just my 2 cents. Glad youre here tho!

Go over to the "build ups and projects" thread and create yourself a build thread! Its fun to maintain and reflect on later in life and we get to watch your car evolve!

Thanks for the welcome and for the advice.
I was originally going to do a tubular K when I did the headers just for the extra clearance but have decided against it based off of all my research, and for what I’m doing with the car I just really don’t need it.
And as far as the long tubes, I know they are a pain but for me, I just have to have them to make the car how I want and the pros outweigh the cons to me. I already own them and I will be in there anyways so they are going on the car.

You sound like me
If i have the headers on hand, they going on regardless! Im just happy I never acquired a set, because I would be torturing myself with installing them and thats with a 5.4l 2valve. Anything I do to the darn car, the engine pretty much has to come out. There is no space between the valve covers and shock towers.

Thanks everyone.
Got everything buttoned up on the car on Friday and had it out for the first time this year on Sunday with the family for Easter.
Felt good to be back in it.
