Hello. I'm new to the SN95 forum and also the new owner of a 1996 Mustang GT convertible in Laser Red with Saddle top and interior. I bought the car last Saturday and this is my first Mustang. The car has a little over 28,000 miles on it and was very well cared for and maintained by its one previous (original) owner. As far as I can tell, its still bone stock.

The car still had the original all-plastic intake manifold so one of my first jobs will be to replace it with a new Dorman intake manifold with the aluminum crossover. I'm also not too thrilled with the performance of the brakes. The rotors are still good (thickness is in spec and no warping), so I'm looking to upgrade the pads and install a set Russell SS brake lines too.

Beautiful drop-top and welcome to the forums! Just a heads up the Dorman NPI does not flow as well as the Ford piece, so I would try to find an OE replacement. Brakes are rough at best with these cars but a far cry from fox bodies. If you can spare $3-500, Cobra/Mach 1 kit works wonders and should fit behind your 17" wheels.

Thank for all this info.
For $300-$500 I would definitely go for a Cobra/Mach 1 brake kit. Can you please point me to the best source to but this?
I would certainly prefer the revised Ford intake (with the aluminum crossover) but the best price I could find one for was about $650. Any advice as to the best source for a Ford intake would also be appreciated.

EDIT: I think I found the Cobra/Mach 1 brake kit. Is this it?

LMR is a great company and they have it on sale right now for $505 and that is plug and play. If you piece together the kit, you can probably save 100-150. Here is the route I went as I bought rotors a few years back for $70-80 and had them lying around
The Raybestos box on the left is from Amazon, the other side was back ordered hence the different boxes:
