Hello all, Just bought a 1994 Gt 5 speed 3.73 gear with 111K miles. What I know about the car for sure is it used to be supercharged. Mods I can identify are Pro M 80mm maf, Gt40 intake 65mm throttlebody, bbk shorty headers, msd ignition 24# injectors, paxton fuel pressure regulator set at thirty pounds, smog egr delete orx pipe magnaflow exhaust. I was told there is a cam sounds like there is but not sure which one. The car seems to run ok but im not sure if this is the best combinantion for a noramally aspirated car. Also the car runs really cool around 160* this has to be in the tuning because the fan comes on around 170. Im thinking the maf is too large and the car is running too cold. Any thoughts?? Thanks

Idk about the 80mm maf, does the car still have stock heads or are they aftermarket ones? Other than that seems like you got a car with some nice goodies lol, can you post up an exhaust video for us? Any thoughts about slapping a s/c on there?

Not sure about the heads, they are iron heads plugs are angled. I cant seem to find any markings to say they are gt40 or p heads. SC is not an option as this is my daily driver. Im not looking to have a 400 hp car just want it to run good and sound good. I would like to add a cai but that will require a new maf.

Welcome , to the forum enjoy ur stay here ..

Now back to topic , I would put a blower back on it . There r plenty of people that have supercharged cars that drive them on a day to day basis . Look at anyone that has a 03 or 04 cobra , hell I know a guy that has a 08 GT500 and he dives it every day that he can ( when its not raining of course ) and it makes over 600 HP and it gets around 22 mpg.

But anyhow its ur car , plus a blower will make it sound good . Hahahahaha

Haha, yea nobody really needs a car that fast but its fun .. I would try and find out what cam it has , cause if it has some kind of blower cam in it u may want to swap for something that is N/A friendly , another thing as far as heads if they r gt40 heads they will have gt stamped on the from of the head right in front of the first header primary tube .

It probably has a 160 or 170 degree thermostat and/or the fans are programmed to kick in at the same temps. I wouldn't think that this would harm your engine, obviously if it used to be supercharged it was just in order to keep temps down due to the added temps that a supercharger causes.

If it worries you I'd try a stock temperature thermostat and see if that helps or you may have to figure out how to retune the temperature at which your fans kick in.

Welcome, and good luck with your new ride.

Is there any other way to tell? It has 90* boots and a couple of the header tubes are wrapped.

sounds like it needs retuned to run without the SC. maybe there is a piggy back chip installed on the ECU.

Oh yea, welcome to the site.

Possibly, I need to look at the computer to see. Last owner had it three years with no problems. I plan to have it tuned after the first of the year.

No the only other way to tell what heads they r is to pull them off , prety sure the casting #'s on the 5.0 heads r on the bottom side . As far as the cam most cams r stamped on the front of the cam ,but u will have to pull the timing cover and the gear off to see it. And finally a retune on the ecu would help really good specially if the guy had it turned for a blower . A good tune can make one hell of a difference .
