Well, I made it out to the track today. I ran at Quaker City Raceway for the first time ever. Pretty decent track IMO. There was not much track prep at all, so I made a shakedown run to see how the track would hold. My 2 step was set at 6300, and that was WAY to high for the track. 14 PSI in the slicks. Spun bad to a 13.36.
Next pass I lowered slicks to 13 PSI, and lowered the 2 step to 5500. Car hooked much better but only went 1.62 60ft because of the lower RPM. Shifted normally on the 1-2 and 2-3 shift, powershifted 3-4. Went 12.35 @ 106.5
Last pass I kept the slicks at 13 PSI and raised my 2 step to 5800. Car still hooked well and went to a little better 1.60 60ft. Shifted normally 1-2, and powershifted 2-3 and 3-4. Went 12.21 @ 107!.
Im thrilled with the times, my previous best was 12.41. Im usually around a 1.58-1.59 60ft, but that's also launching higher as well. Also, Quaker City is known for their uphill track after the 1/8 mile which Im told is usually good for 2-3 tenths.
SO, my goal is to run at my other track that is flat and powershift every gear and get this pig into the 11s. I pulled my rear and passenger seats for the track, but I still have A/C, Mach stereo, etc. So Id love to go 11s N/A with minimal weight loss...

Thanks, and actually this is the first time I've ever powershifted at the track. Ive been practicing on the street lately and can get every gear consistently. On the street when I roll into it in 1st, I can get second pretty easily, but launching at the track it sometimes fights me even shifting into 2nd normally, so I didn't chance it yesterday...eventually I will though...

My track of choice is Thompson. Usually there is good prep on TNTs and between there, Norwalk, and 42, I've always run the best at Thompson...

Nice, gonna have to get together sometime.
Went to Thompson once when I had my V6, just for the experience.
Track was nice but the staff was terrible, no help for the new guy whatsoever.

Yea there were a couple of jerks that worked the line. I know at least one of them is gone now. I'm friends with Jimmy Curtis who is the manager and he's trying to get the staff situation under control...

Nice times. Just reading this. Quaker city is at 955 feet. I ran at 2500 feet and I think the only difference we have between our cars are that you have heads and headers, and I am a vert..... my times are a full second slower than yours at best (mid 13's) ... are your times corrected? I know if mine were corrected for DA and elevation it worked out to a 12.9. Either way congrats. Can you list your full mod list for people to reference off off.

I now see you also ran slicks. If I could have an N/A mid 12 second SN95 I would be a happy camper

Im sure 03DSGGT will chime in here, but I know he raised his compression a little bit and has an eddy intake on top of those heads.

The numbers aren't corrected, I did correct them and it came out to like an 11.97. I'm running the stock shortblock, and with the TFS heads I have around 10.25:1 compression...not too bad but still lower than a PI swap.
