Just getting used to my 2001 Gt with a stock 4.6 engine. Question about RPMs and shifting. Obviously it is different with everyday driving vs going fast. But will regularly winding out before shifting, say 4500 rpm’s, cause more wear and tear on the engine? Will cruising at 3000 or 3500 rpm’s be bad for the engine? I understand the redline at around 5800, but I don’t get close to that. For maximum performance, where do you shift? Thanks!

Just stay on top of oil changes and maintenance. The engine should last you a good while trouble free.

Shifting around 5k is around the end of power production from the 2v.
