So I am completely new to the audio stuff, I am pretty much clueless. I read a little and found some good brands, but thats about it. My car was equipped with a mach 460 system but one of the previous owners installed an older Alpine deck and the sceakers have a red 'R' on them.

I want to upgrade the sound system a bit but dont really know what I want. So far I have found a couple things, I know that I want a newer deck that I can hook my Ipod up to.

This is what I have looked at so far, are these ok? What else would I need to buy to get everything working together? Is there just a wire that goes from the back of the deck to the amp/sub?

Thanks

the head unit you have chosen there would definitly do. but you cant just run a wire to the subs. you will have to buy an amp also. and the proper wiring kit. they sell the entire wiring kit. im sure your local audio shop can help you out with that. i would at least go 8 gauge for the power cable for that set up. any questions just ask

an amplifier wiring kit will have most of the parts you will need. There is a power wire that will go from the battery(fused near the batt) to the amp. There are rca signal wires and the remote turn on wires from the deck to the amp. And normally there is a speaker wire from teh amp to the sub although that might already be wired for you, can't tell.

If i was you i would not get any amp kit that is smaller then a 4 gauge because for the most of the time your amp well clip on and of do to not geting the right amout of power and if the fuse fails you could start a fire always get as big of a wire as you can not only well it look better it well sound better as well you might think about a dvd player you well like this much more and if you need a good price call me at 405 341 6959 because i own big dog auto acc... in oklahoma

You can go with 8 gauge if you want to. It depends on how much you're pushing. 4 gauge is better if you decide you want to grow. As for the wiring, all you would need to do is walk into a Best Buy, or another audio shop, and ask for an Amp Kit.
