ok first of all i have a 94 gt stick. ok here is what happened. 2 days ago i was on my way to the gas station (car was as low as i have ever let it get) any ways i was cruising at about 3,000 rpm's when suddenly the car just shut down. i figured i had just ran out of gas and my gauge was a little off. so i went to the gas station and got 5 gallons and put it in the car. at this point i tried to start the car but i noticed the fuel pump wasn't priming. so i got out checked all of my fuses and everything looked ok. call a tow truck and when i get the car home all of a sudden the car fuel pump primes but i have no pressure. so i go out and get a fuel filter replace that and i have plenty of fuel pressure now. this time i go to start the car the pump primes the motor turns over but it still wont start. i pulled one of the plugs and everything looks ok but i had the original cap and rotor on the distributor. i go out and get a new cap and rotor go to start the car again and still no spark. my next thought was the coil so i test that and im not getting any spark from the coil. i went out and bought a new coil installed it and still no spark. after reading online and on forums i realized that my ICM could be the problem so i bought one of those installed it and yet again still no spark. does anyone have any insight on what the problem could be? or point me in the right direction?

Thanks a lot in advance and i apologize about how poorly written this is i was in a rush writing this.

First off, it seems odd to me that you would have no fuel pump priming before a new fuel filter was installed.. I could maybe
understand low fuel pressure with a very clogged filter, but for the pump not to prime at all until the filter was replaced raises an
eyebrow with me... Second, have you looked inside your distributor to check for broken wires/metal shavings, etc? ICMs are a
common problem, but IMO more people have problems with the actual Distributor than the ICM to it. Do you have any
people you know with 94-95 5.0 mustangs you could swap distributors with to check?

Have you actually checked for spark? Whats your Fuel pressure?

This is why you test and not just throw parts at it .

Have you tried to pull codes yet? The ICM's and coils don't normally go out in the 94-95's. What does normally go out in our cars is the pip inside the distributor. But first pull codes

Yes i thought the same thing..... it was very weird how i was not getting any power to the fuel pump before the tow and then after the tow i was it was almost like something got knocked back into place during the tow.... i have not checked for broken wires inside of the distributor yet ill try that next.

yes i checked for spark at both the coil and plug wires before and after every part i tried. im not sure what my fuel pressure is but now when i press down on the schrader valve i can tell there is plenty.

There is volume and there is pressure. You don't know untill you hook up a fp gauge Which i suggest doing. Mark your distributor base and block so you can line it back up. pull a plug or 2 key on twist the distributor back and forth. should hear the injectors pulse and fp should turn on. LUK.

No but since your f/p shit was messed up id check for piece of mind. And another thought bout the FP. It could be on its way out. If i shut my car off and the FP stopped on the dead spot i had to tap the gas tank with a hammer. Its possible getting your car on the tow truck and off moved the FP out of its dead spot.

hmm.... as far as the random fuel pump priming problem, did you hit any large bumps/potholes before your car died? although rare,
I have heard of occasionally the "Inertia Switch" or "Fuel Pump cut-off switch" getting tripped and disabling the fuel pump (as if you got
rear-ended) Perhaps, although going out on a limb here, it was tripped, then bouncing around on the back of a tow truck reset it,
and thus cured the Priming problem.. The spark issue on the other hand, if you're not getting any spark after the coil and between the
distributor, then perhaps it would be a wiring problem somewhere, or you may want to double and triple check your fuses and such....

i too thought about that when it first happend it would have been nice if it was just the switch. i went over the wiring several times and still nothing, but i work at autozone so i think im gonna get a distributor today from work and see if that fixes my problem.
