Noises...

When i run my car at wot i hear a rattaling sound, it sounds like its coming from the engine but it's hard to tell in the car. It doesn't do it everytime, but pretty often. I had lower then normal oil pressure today as well, would that be part of it? Thanks-Bobby

Is it like a heavy metal rattling or a light rattling sound? How often does your oil pressure get "low"?

Also do you have your Timing turned up or do have you checked your Harmonic Balancer also. If your timing is advanced it could be causing pre detonation. Or if your Harmonic Balancer is bad it will cause all sorts of problems. But also what aaron said too.

like said earlier if it sounds like BB's in a soda can it's pinging, either retard the timing some or use higher octane fuel. does it still do it with the oil at the proper level?

my car is doing the same thing i dropped the timing to like 5-6degrees and it still does is on hot days but just not as bad. My fuel pump is also really loud so i think it might be alittle weak causing it to lean out causing detonation.

It could be a few things, like others said your timing might have something to do with it.

You could also be having fuel pressure issues (Like I am right now :violent1.

Does it make that sound when you just romp on it? Have you tried easing into the throttle as rpms go up to see if it still does it? If easing into it makes it go away its more than likely its fuel pressure issues (again, that's the issue i'm having right now :BangHead

It's kind of light, i do have the timing up a bit and it only does it occasionally, so that could be... It does it either way as long as it's wot at higher rpm's. sorry for the late reply, it's been a while since i could get on lol. My oil pressure was only low that day, so far it's been good :dontknow:

That's detonation. Back off your timing and always run premium gas.
