I keep reading that the AFR 185 and some other heads require you to notch the pistons. When I had my motor torn down I noticed my pistons already have notches in them. Are factory not notched or is it that you have to notch them more? They were seal power pistons but not sure on the exact part number.

Factory pistons are notched, correct, but i'm pretty sure they need to be opened up more becuase the valves on the 185's are bigger than the reliefs on the stock pistons. correct me if i'm wrong someone else lol

Those are valve reliefs homey.

I guess in a way they are "notched" but no, you need to cut deeper into the piston or buy pistons with enough clearance for the valves.
