I hope this is allowed.. in a world full of Ls swaps, I think it’s only right we shove a ford in a Chevy. I have a 1995 gmc sbsc with the old reliable 4.3 and a smoked 4l60e… I took the trans out to rebuild it, I’ve pondered with the idea of doing what everyone else does and shoving an Ls with a big cam in it but what’s the fun in doing what Billy from up the block did?? Now ls’s are great for making cheap reliable power. But their ugly engines to me and every tom dick and harry has them. Now there is a few of these things with coyotes in them so this isn’t the first one with a ford power plant. Is it a waste of time and money? Probably. But I think it’d be really fun and unique! The plan is to do a mildly built 2v backed with a 4r70w and have the comforts of ac/heat still. I have a long block and 4r70 case that I will use for mock up. I’ve used chat gpt to build a 3d file for engine mounts that my buddy is 3d printing out to get some rough drafts for templates.

No idea as of yet?? Most likely factory mustang ecu and stuff since it’s relatively cheap. Anything like a Holley is far out the budget unfortunately. I am open to ideas
You’re going to need a tune any way you twist it, and the factory computers are getting harder to tune.
I don’t like the Holley terminator system, they’ve been failing a lot recently.

Yeah for sure! I’d been seeing a lot of bad on them for some time now, and for the $ amount it’s not worth the hassle for me. Any recommendations? I’m all ears to about anything. It is tempting to go carb but then I’d need a tcm
Correct, not the old terminator or even the current HP. I’m talking specifically about the terminator x and x max.
Budget is the deciding factor on this one. If it was me, I’d probably stick a plug and play megasquirt on the factory wiring.
Or, are you going to be wiring this one from scratch?
I’d like to utilize what I can from the truck but there isn’t much. I’m not really to keen with wiring so I may have to source info and things from someone who is. And even then there’s no info on mating the ford stuff to the Chevy from what I can find. As far as ac goes I’m thinking about running an electric unit that I can mount off to the side, custom lines will need to be made obviously but it’d be much more easier then trying to bolt the factory ford or Chevy one to it imo

Your choices are simple, all you need is engine management. I'm not a MegaSquirt person so can't comment other than from what I've seen it's bulky to me. If your plan is a stock/mild 2v, why not the stock ECU and go that route. As for AC/Heat, you can use your stock chassis harness for that and tie into the AC circuit. It won't be controlled by the ECU, but my '02 swapped Coyote isn't controlling my AC and it works fine. I get the budget part too, going aftermarket ECU, wiring harness, etc is going to cost some bucks for sure.
Yeah if I can retain the stock ecu that’s the way I’d go for the simple fact that it won’t break the bank much. I will need to get an sct tuner and I’m thinking I can have a mail tune done from Marty for it
This will be a cool project! Truck is clean too! I dont see many short bed 2wd chevys of that year around my area. Im thinking they all rusted out.
