I continued moving forward with the fuel system. Sat the tank in the rear of the frame and built the lines. I’m going to secure the filter up high, to the bottom of the trunk pan, much like the Mustang is. Went on a scavenger hunt this morning. I went through the junk yard looking for shift cables. I ended up buying a new one for a 2001 s10. I think I’m going to adapt that to the car.

Then I moved on the getting the transmission built. It’s not my normal quality build, but hopefully it works.

And while I was playing with the transmission, my buddy pulled the car off the frame.

I’ve got the fresh frame strapped down on the trailer. I’m going to take it over there tomorrow morning when I head in to work. Hopefully we will be able to set the body on the fresh frame Sunday.

Got some work done. My buddy currently has the car and is sorting some things out with it. He pulled the interior, cleaned the scale off the floor pans, that are surprisingly solid and hit them with some bedliner.

He also cleaned out the trunk, and noticed that the trunk pan needs to be replaced. So I’ll be doing that at a later date. Until then he sprayed some trunk liner on it to match the factory trunk coating.

He also hit the engine with a quick spray paint. Then pulled the heads off and cleaned up the deck surfaces. Got the cam, new oil pump, new pan, motor mounts, and Ls3 heads installed.

I didn’t go by the car today, but they got the motor mounts on the frame, painted the underside of the car, and got the engine and trans bolted together, then set on the frame. IMG_5278.jpegIMG_5281.jpegIMG_5279.jpeg

I stayed at home and worked on the wiring harness. I’ve ordered a swap harness but I don’t know if it’s going to make it here in time. So I’m stripping all the extra stuff out of a stock harness. IMG_2967.jpegIMG_2968.jpeg

I went over and worked on the car today. We ended up getting a driveshaft that fit, so that’s cool. We had to cobble an exhaust together, so it’s a bunch of random pieces from other exhausts. It’s not great, but it fits nice. It should be alright. We got the new fuel tank mounted up in the car, and got the body set back down on the frame. Been working through some things. I found the power steering pulley was hitting the gearbox, so had to find a different pulley, then it wouldn’t go on far enough to line up the belt, so had to pull it off again and space the pump back, then put the smaller pulley on. Got that taken care of. Then mounted the transmission cooler up front, built and ran the transmission lines. My buddy was wet sanding the car while I was working on it. So we taped it up and sprayed it with clear coat. I’m excited to see it in the sun. It’s coming along though. IMG_2985.jpegIMG_2986.jpegIMG_2987.jpegIMG_2988.jpegIMG_2989.jpeg

The rear bumper was in bad shape and it didn’t have a front bumper. My buddy had an extra set that had been sand blasted. So they got painted the same color as the center of the wheels. And got the tail light trim and bezels installed.

Tomorrow should be another really big push to get this thing wrapped up. 78068558729__21863739-6EDE-42E6-A06A-3B50BD260C4D.jpeg78068589266__9097E080-EA0F-4123-A9C6-40DC05930B3A.jpeg78070399056__E130B456-FD51-4486-A5BE-939DF0EBFBC4.jpeg

do you drink a couple gallons of coffee to have enough energy to get all this done so fast?! I swear since the chronic fatigue set in on me I just could not even possibly keep up. I use to have endless energy I think I just used too much too fast.... Nice work!

I do drink a fair amount of coffee, lol. This has been one of those projects that have just been a constant push because of the deadline.

However, I cannot take credit for all the work. I’ve had a couple good friends working on it while I wasn’t there. I have to say my thanks to them, because I wouldn’t have been able to do it all by myself.

I’m excited for how it’s turning out though. It should be a really fun cruiser.

I love the clear coated patina, I'm curious what the price scale is for a project like this is. I haven't a clue what restomodding an old car like this costs. I have been talking to my wife about maybe doing a 70s ford truck after the red and green car projects are finished.

you should be taking pride in the work your doing and how fast it is going no matter with friends or not. It will be driving before you know it at this rate. Congrats.
