Odometer Gears

I just replaced the odometer gears in my 98 Mustang. The odometer and trip guage are working now but they are only registering about 1 mile for every 2 miles travelled. Any thought on how to correct that?

Probably. It was owned by my elderly cousin and I can't imagine he did any changes.

Was he the original owner? Maybe someone before him swapped it.

Also, it’s possible that the speedo gear may have a few teeth broken. I had an odometer in an 80s car that was pretty sure worked, but it turned out, a few teeth in the gear were broken, so it was spinning but just not properly.
