Odometer/trip not working....?

Drove my car for the first time in several weeks and noticed my odometer and trip odometer wasnt working.All of the other gauges seem to be working fine though......

There is a little gear behind there that has probably stripped out

Those gears break on every single on of these, mine broke 2weeks after i bought the car, luckily I don't plan on selling it either so I haven't replaced it. Not really a needed thing, just check your oil often as you will have to guess on your mileage between changes.

Yup, +1 on that being the source of it... when I replaced mine (broken before I bought the car, and had well over 160k on the odometer before it stripped out) the gears came out in soft, almost gooey, fragments. Simple to replace, and provides a good excuse to blow the dust out of the dash cluster, switch to LED bulbs, etc (which I'm wishing I'd done at the time).
