Well I'm trying to remove Just the c/d player as it no longer is able to read the disc that is in it , absolutely refuses to eject it and is making a God-awful noise in it's attempt to read the disc.I have the din removal tool It doesn't seem to fit all the way on the passenger side, also when I push out on the removal tool they just seem to want to bend and not have the stereo come out ? Any thoughts are much appreciated.

FWIW~ this is a head unit that is separate from the c/d player in a Mach 460 system The car is a 95 gt

I'm not one to try and Force something but perhaps that is what is needed ??

sounds like the spring clips have probably been bent back so that the tool does not engauge them. When pushing the tool into the holes, try and angle it so that the tips are pointing out away from the deck and sometimes you can still catch them and then try to remove it as normal.

Another option is to either just pull the fuse that supplies the 12v constant to the deck and see if it will reset itself, or you can try to pull the center portion of the dash out. There is a single screw that is in the back fo the deck that normally needs to be removed to pull it out but it is on a fairly thin clip that breaks easy and really isn't needed.

Thanks for reply, after lots of frustration I'm still in the same place as I was. I'm guessing after 17 years the c/d player has decided it likes it's home. I think I will have to pull the fascia out. ugh so much for "Hey I got the tool this should only take a minute." There are two screws that seem to attach to the fascia I will post pics tomorrow and see if it helps anyone else ??

there are two there on the front and then like I said there is a third - behind the radio........... If you pull it out, look down that long plastic piece the radio slides onto and you will see a phillips head back there where it meets the metal brace.

Now if you do not want to do all that, take the two up front out and give a good jerk... The plastic clip is thin and will break off in back and really isn't needed(mine has been gone for years). But it is easier with the radio out honestly and if you have the keys its easy to do.

The 3rd an final option if you are just fine with the fact the cd player is broken and you are not going to fix it, stick a screw driver in one of those holes and pry the face off..... They come off fairly easily honestly and then you can see the springs to release the cd player. The tools not working because the springs/clips being bent wrong is a common problem and on alot of other fords like old escorts and crown vics there was no way to take the dash off and had to break the face. In the years I worked I ended up breaking a few faces out of need. Its kinda fun...........

TT:
Well after trying and trying I got the screws free(stripped by previous owner) pulled the fascia and it still won't release . So I figured I could just pull the power etc. to it , but now its like the amp is shorted so Im screwed again lol ! its going to have to come out so I can hopefully extract the disc , reconnect everything and hope i can have the amp working again???? Does it make sense that the amp got screwed up when i disconnected the c/d player??

Did you take out the cassette player and remove the 7mm/9/32" at the back of the rail that the cassette player slides back on? AFter that and the two screws up front there are some clips up by the vent that will hold it in place. Give a firm pull on the top portion by the vents to dislodge the clips but not fully pull out, then move down by the radio and another light tug should release the entire center portion.
