this thread reminds me, i gotta do the oil in the Stang, and the wife's honda, and need to spray some WD40 on the 351 to keep it from rusting...

lol yeah the s10's close to being due for one here too..

lol id just go ahead and paint the block at this point with some HTP.. less your having it taken in somewhere to get media blasted or chemically cleaned..

my bad man i guess i totally missed the point of your post.

i thought you were confused as to why your oil was milky brown. i saw you said it had sat for a while but i thought you were talking about something else.

i have no clue what i thought you meant the first go around i read it.... carry on, dont pay attention to me. im out of it i guess lol.

lol no worries man.. we all do that from time to time.. im bad when it comes to skimming posts and then replying on it wrong too..

In regards to conventional oil....


The reason for the 3/30 rule is not due to viscosity breakdown but rather due to blowby gases. The blowby gases from combustion that get past your piston rings (That's why you have a PCV system) will disolve into the oil thereby creating an acid that starts to eat at your bearings. Slop (clearance) in your engine is accelerated by the acid eating up the bearing surfaces. This is the reason for the rule.

If you drive your car every weekday and only put on just over 1,000 miles in 3 months then I would guess you are doing short run errands. This prevents the engine from running at operating temperature when your piston rings are designed to seal best. Because of this your engine is not getting the opporunity to vent off the blowby gasses as well and this can cause an acid build-up in your oil even though you have driven it very little.

I would go ahead and change the oil. An underworked engine can be just as hard on it as an overworked engine.



Ramps? If I needed to raise a car to get under it I just jack it up and put the jack stands in place. I've never used ramps. If you don't have a floor jack there is a jack in the trunk. I never had a problem getting a jack under a car.

nice info steve

and for the jack issues i know i need a low profile jack for the 93 because its lowered a good amount .,...once i get the sportlines in the 94 im sure it will be the same lol
