OK guys, i know this has probably been answered already, but i cannot figure it out. I have a 94 Cobra, 5.0.... It has plenty of miles, and is due for a engine swap, but my question is:

Every time i drive the car hard, it has been blowing the dipstick up 1-2 inches, and oil is spraying out. I put a oil/air separator on the dipstick tube as a band aid. My left valve cover breather is routed to the intake (stock configuration) and i even took the screen out of the lower intake pcv inlet. My guess is it it blow-by due to worn out rings, but the weird this is I NEVER have smoke out of the exhaust, not after i start it, or when i get on the throttle. VERY weird. :dontknow: Is there a common cause to this? Please let me know. :eek:ccasion14:

not quite sure of the correct fix right here but you could try crimping the end of the dipstick tube tighter. a lot of boosted cars have this problem simply because the pressure created in the engine.

Sounds like you have a lot of blow by. Time for a new bottom end. Blow by will rarely give you smoke out of the exhaust, unless it's a LOT, and your PVC is routed into the intake, like yours is. Do compression and leak down test, that should tell you what's up with the bottom end.

like he said. compression test and a leak down test.

Sorry had to do it !!! :)

Yeah try PVC first and see if that helps and then go on with the compression test

your getting blow by under boost if its a stock bottom end best guess bad things if built the ringd werent set right there for blow by... all the compression that your pistons were suppose to hold is going into your bottom end..and now after i wrote all this i noticed u guys already had writen it lol

Basically it is time for a rebuild.

Ohh well, not bad for a factory 5.0 with 240,000 HARD miles on it. I love this car, it takes whatever i throw at it and still runs a 13.0 @111 on street tires. Time for a 347!
