Oil fill tube location

So, I installed my new CAI on my 03 GT. Oil fill tube is just in a bad spot, passenger side. Had to trim the metal tubing so the hose would fit, because it goes right into the fill tube. Now, I never realized that the older models 4.6 fill is on the driver side. My buddy showed me his 95 4.6, driver side. Is there a reason Ford changed it? Are the valve covers interchangable?

Every one that I have seen is on the driver side 96 04 gt cobra mach all
Mercury or Lincoln maybe
Truck maybe

We are talking about the dip stick
And not the filler

95 had them on the driver side dip stick
But the oil filler neck is on the passenger side

My bad, Yes, 5.0. But my question is still the same. His Mach1 and Cobra both are driver side. So, is this just a 2-valve thing?

Could be different valve covers
Truck mercury Lincoln like them

The npi 4.6 had the oil fill on the drivers side. I believe they are interchangeable with the Romeo pi motor. Don’t hold me to that though.

You’re right. The npi mustangs 96-98, had the fill on the driver side. I think some town cars did also. As long as it’s Romeo to Romeo, they will swap. Just count the bolt holes and if they are the same, you can use them.

Can confirm, my '97 Town Car has the fill on the driver side valve cover.

But looking at your photos, I would say just get some different tubing for the IAC so it's not as close to the fill cap.

Wait a second.... Can anyone tell me why my Fusion has the oil fill on one side, but my friends Honda Ridgeline has it on the other side.

I have a fill spot on both driver and passenger side of my 95. You could probably do the same by just swapping your driver side cover with another that has the fill while leaving the passenger side alone.
