I'm in the process of replacing the steering rack on my '99 Mountaineer 5.0 - The oil filter and bracket are in the way of getting to the main power steering high pressure line and the cooler line. It looks as if the oil filter bracket is held on by 1 bolt. Is this right? How difficult is it to remove and put back? Are there any reasons why I shouldn't remove it so I can get to the other bolts?

I have the 5.0 in my '95 stang and since I know the guys on this forum really know their shit, I'd get a better answer than on the Explorer forum. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes its one bolt (in the middle). Get some new O rings before you put it back on.
