Throw a KB on it with an oily clutch and it'll slip, lol.

I know dude, that you don't want to get set back, and that you have probably been saving a long time, but, wouldn't you rather do it right? I mean, maybe you put the blower on there and it will be just dandy for 100k, but maybe not. That's just my own .02, I wouldn't put a blower on a car that needed a tune up either.

I hate to admitt it but I think you're right. I've never really been one to do things half-a$$ed... I think I might concentrate on the parts I've already got, and just make sure the car is 100% for this summer/show season.

The thing that really sucks is that i'm going back to school full time this next semester and I'm cutting back my hours at work big time.. which means I won't be able to save up near as much money.

I just need to get motivated and start working on the car again. I've still got plenty of stuff on the 98 that I could sell but I'm either too lazy to mess with it or don't have the time.

Guess I need to start doing some research on a new clutch and maybe even a new transmission...

What would you guys do as far as a new transmission for the car?

Do you think I should go ahead and swap my tranny out now, or wait, install a blower in the future and wait for it to blow up...?

Do you need a new transmission? You can build a T5 pretty stout nowadays aparently, but I would still skip straight to one of the Trememcs myself.

astro performance has very good rebuilt t-5s (they call them A-5s) that can handle quite a bit, even with a KB
down the road for sure..... i have a Tremec TKO (the older style) and i love it. but if it's not broke, dont fix it.
if your stock T5 is shifting smooth and hasn't had problems, then just do the clutch/ rear main seal job. but if it
does start acting up, then look into my above suggestions while you have the old one out. :santa_afro:

Mine was a world class t 5 with billet steel fly wheel and ram heavy duty clutch. i stopped the slipping once i put that in, but the tranny started begging for mercy. The T5 would hold up fine for awhile, but if you do a clutch go ahead and do the rear main seal.

I guess launching at 4K on 315's with 400 TQ that tranny didnt like it.

Well, I've given everything a lot of thought...

here is my "semi-final" decision... go ahead and replace the clutch and rear main. Once this is done I plan on going ahead and purchasing a blowzilla. I'm going to go with the standard kit, 6-9 psi. This will be a modest setup imo, and I'll go from there. I will also plan on getting a new maf, tb, and will talk to somebody at kb about injectors and fuel pump...

That's the plan as of right now and I will be shooting for a completion date of February 29th.

The car isn't my dd, and I really don't abuse it. It's never been to the track or on a dyno... so we'll see how much life I can get out of the ole T5. Hopefully it will get me through the summer/show season.
