this is NOT ford related but, in my 2003 GMC Sierra with the 5.3, the oil pressure gauge was maxed out at 120psi+, and would idle at around 90psi, im suspecting the sender to be the culprit, but ive heard that the gauge clusters go bad and that might be the problem too.

Did you try just changing the sending unit? If you did then next thing is install an oil pressure gauge to see if everything is okay, which it probably is.

But to give you some light since I have a similar problem, my gauge cluster on my Stang has been broken for about the 2+ years I have owned it, it worked fine for a month then gone. So either my car is going to take a crap dive on me real soon or my car has been driving smoothly with no engine problems after 20k miles with low oil pressure. So it really could be a cluster.

Goodluck, I wonder if you can just throw a cluster from another junked Sierra on to see if that fixes it too.

i have not changed the sending unit yet, just seeing what anybody else thought. if the sending unit doesnt fix it, i will get a mechanical gauge and check the pressure. the truck runs fine btw

I have seen alot of problems with the clusters on those trucks with the speedo, rpm gauge, oil pressure gauge etc. Speedo shops can usually fix them if it is a problem with the cluster without having to buy a new one. The new one would have to be programmed to the truck with a Tech II and there pretty expensive.
