Is it true that this so called gauge is just an on off type thing that either shows the needle at some point on the scale or no reading, with no in between? Im looking to change the sender unit and they all seem to be the same ones for a light setup with just the one wire and really small. If I had no oil pressure would there be some other sort of indicator like the cel light or audible alarm?

Yes, the oil pressure "gauge" is just an idiot light with a needle, it uses the same sender as a light, and reads either normal (middle of the range) with oil pressure, or nothing with no oil pressure. AFAIK there is no other indicator of oil pressure.

Thanks for the response. I was wondering when all the sending units online were only for a light.

The best thing you can do is tee off the pressure port and put an auto meter electronic oil pressure gauge in there. You’ll have to find an extra spot for a gauge (a pillar, steering column). This way you will know for sure what your oil pressure is.
