Today I came across a Mach1 in one of those side of the road lots. I stopped because it was marked $11,900. The car is dark shadow gray with black int, and looks very good. But , BIG BUT, it is a "R" title. The car has 48k on the clock. Upon a quick inspection I found no major damage other than lower radiator support bent up a bit, and a blown out left rear shock.

The car has been there a couple months. I have seen it a couple times passing by.

The owner of the lot has no problem with me taking it to a Ford Dealer and having it gone over.

He told me he would take $10,500 for the car. If he says $10,500 you could probably get it for less.

I found it on auto trader.

Can you post the pics? I keep trying to load that link and it won't work. I would want to know why it was a rebuilt title. First before proceeding. I love DSG

Just took the wife to look at it, and we decided against it. Something did not feel right to her. She said "the car does not make me feel warm and fuzzie"

I would do it if you could beat down the price some more, especially since ive seen non rebuilt machs for around 13k. It would be sweet for a lower price, because if the chassis turns out to be a pretzel, atleast you could swap out the drivetrain and interior. But you already did a mach swap..lol

I am just going to keep an eye on this car for now. If he still has it in July I may go make an offer on it.

if you dont have any intention of reselling it (or know you wont get much of anything for it if you do try to resell it with a R title), then id say its a good deal if you are confident enough that the car will run sound, and not have 20 different noises a week after driving it off the lot.

when i was looking for a Mach1 back in June, i didnt find a single one for under $18k. if you believe any problems with the car are going to be under $4-5k to fix, then id say youre getting a good deal for it.

if you havnt already, id take it for a nice long test drive, at least 30min, and beat the hell out of it. if you dont find any problems when you beat the hell out of it for a good while, then im sure it will be fine. i mean my co-worker went out and bought a car a few years back, and the guy he bought it off of said "new transmission... etc" among other things, well just to be safe, he went really hard on the transmission on the way home with it, with intention of putting some strain on it (but not enough to cause any damage that wasnt there to begin with), just to find out that the tranny failed, and that it was on its last leg. he saved himself quite a bit of money, since he got the dealer to pay for it since he didnt even get all the way home with the car.

That is pretty much the way I look at it. If I were to get it, I would have it till the end of time because it has no value other than a DD.
