Ok, here's the one mod I really want for my car. An outside temp display.

I have looked into the aftermarket mirrors which have it but the usual price for those is ~$190 since I need the model with map lights for the convertible

See a lot of Mecedes Benz displays on Ebay which seem to be perfect to use except how would I figure out the wiring? I have seen them pretty cheap though so I may be tempted to pick one up to play with

Any other ideas?

I was going to say the same thing as I did it to my ranger. It is a popular mod for the rangers since they share the same chassis but was an easy wiring project. I actually modified mine so that it can read the outside temp, as well as my amplifiers temp with the push of a button. If you do a search for explorer temp gauge I am sure you can find the same article I did showing the wiring but let me know if you need help.

Half way down shows it.

Gonna be a little hard to do an overhead with a convertible though :tongue3:

Just kidding around, I'm gonna keep looking for options that have just a simple small display for temp only and see what I can find

Honeslty, no need for a radar detector in my life, I have owned them over the years and think they are a waste of my time. False security and misdetects is pretty much all they are to me.

I am thinking of picking up a mercedes temp display and a spare clock though and seeing what I can put together

it will be interesting to see if the mercedes accesory is any cheaper then the radar. I do not use it either as I find the sensor is good(not great) for front radar and just ok for rear because the sensor is directional. I get more use out of the temp display myself. it also has a voltage gauge if you like that better, just another toy really......
