Alright so it all started a few months ago, my water pump went out and my car overheated, i have a 1995 gt anyways, i replaced the water pump, thermostat, and all the piping. It still runs to hot and over heats. any ideas of what it might be? like obvious things, i know it could be a number of things but were should i start? and also i have the dreaded rpm surge, i have a new IAC valve, and i replaced the gasket from the throttle body to the plenum, what else could cause that? . oh and it idles fine, it surges as soon as you push the clutch in, and it hangs for a little then drops, but it doesnt do it if you cruise in the same gear for long enough. ive tried everything i can think of? any help would be greatly appreciated

overheating- did you put the thermostat back in the right way (gotta ask the obvious). What temp.?
It might help if you get some radiator flush and run through it to knock the crud loose. Our rads aren't known for being the best out there.

hanging idle- did you reset the computer when you replaced the iac?
are you getting any codes?

Did you burp the cooling system when you replaced everything?

+1 check to see if you have heat, if there is air in the system you wont have any, most times.

If you didn't burp already it's fairly simple. Preferably put the car on Jackstands or ramps, turn the car on, fill the radiator with coolant, let the engine run and the system cycle, you will get some coolant overflow when the thermostat Opens/closes, keep re-filling the rad until it evens out, put cap back on (replace if old). Done, a lot of people don't know they have to burp their stangs, I know I didn't until I found someone on here with the same problem as me.

i would put a new rad in if the original is still in there. My car was over heating too so I replaced that and the fan motor and all is good again. Def burp the system again if you haven't already.

yea i put the thermostat in correctly i know that for sure, and i reset the computer with the IAC swap. And alright about how much did it cost you for the whole radiator and fan swap?

No i didnt burp it, and thankyou for explaining it i will for sure do that tommorrow after work. So just jack it up, put it on stands, then start it let it cycle then keep refilling the radiator as it drains?

also yes i do have heat still, but that doesn't rule out the air in the system does it?

Yeah lol... the random foreign guy is actually somewhat of a beast...hes got a formerly 11 second eclipse lol, one of those 550hp benzes, a infinity q45 and some other shit....yeah hes something like a ballar. The reason why i say formerly 11 second, is because he turned it into a show car, with a expensive ass paintjob, huge sound system, some flashy rims, and some other shit.

haha yea. damn thats pretty beast it takes straight money to make one of those 11sec, but yea, im about to buy a B&G turbo kit for my mustang. Im gonna buy an oversized radiator, E-Fan, BBK 70mm Throttle body, and a tranny oil cooler. Then all the supporting fuel upgrades. Im hoping to have around 350rwhp after all thats done and tuned. sound atainable?

Sounds good, but it might be easier to hit that number with a decent set of heads instead of the stock E7s. No matter what heads you stick with make sure you get a good set of head gaskets (cometic maybe) turbo setups are well know for blowing them up.

yea, i for sure want to do all the supporting mods first. I actually just bought a mishimoto over sized radiator, and a ford racing E-303 roller cam. Im excited to get them in, im gonna buy the full motor gasket set and replace them all when i tear into it to install the cam. My next investment is gonna be dual 12" E-Fans. hopefully i get my car running a little quicker in the next few months.

SN cars have a bad ass fan on them already, I think you're wasting your money there.

Did you order 2 Mishimotos? (Waiting for the next "My brand new Mishimoto radiator is leaking" thread)

if it was a head gasket would i see signs of coolant in the oil? and i hope not, but idk? its for sure a PROJECT. haha it runs good but i gotta replace the entire suspension, tires, rebuild the motor eventually to be able to handle more power, and i gotta figure out what causing the idle surge. cause ive tried everything i have heard to try on here and everything i could think of and nothing fixed it? so idk theres thousands of dollars in stuff i gotta do before i can really start doing what i want with it. but i love her to death, my car is more important than a girl right now haha
