Maybe the rad cap is not holding pressure. The only reason for the water to boil at 220 is no pressure in the system. Also, check the top rad hose for excessive pressure. If it has super pressure then its possible you could be lifting the heads. I've heard that if the torque sequence is off you can lift the heads just by cruising around town. Just some different ideas to look for.

Although I think it's very unlikely since you're only running 220 degrees, have you done a "block test" to test for exhaust gases in the radiator fluid? The kits are available for cheap at NAPA.

no i haven't done that paul.. i haven't the slightest what that is but i sure will investigate it... that's why i love this site... learn something new all the time

you can get that test kit at Napa. Can you see bubbles in the rad with the cap off? that's another sign the HG is blown

I'm not too sure.. i'll have to look tomorrow.. I had it all undone the other day but have gotten so mad at it I've just let it be for the past few days. I only drive 4 minutes to work so it doesn't hardly get very warm anyway.
