I agree… with both of you!!
IMHO, that’s one of the key factors that makes our hobby so dynamic: diverse tastes and mods!

I can completely see Rau’s logic using the caliper covers. And at the same time I can equally appreciate ttocs’ view of the simple, understated look.
To each his own, eh!

When I DO finally get around to doing it, I’ll certainly post before & after pics.

I got away from painting
Rust and brake dust will show with time

I cover my calipers just looks cleaner
Now granted the custom covers are a bit expensive
But well worth the money
At car shows people do ask where can they find them
Vett people dodge people chevy guys

I do agree with "Your money, your car" which means do what you want but some things just make more sense than others.

I considered covers at one time myself but after upgrading the power I HAD to upgrade the stopping ability as well. Then I saw the baer's and got all stupid for some reason but it was a buy once cry once type of situation.

Ok, finally got around to painting the front calipers!
I cleaned the snot out of them: caliper cleaner, wire brush; caliper cleaner, wire brush; lather/rinse/repeat!

Applied the paint, cleaned off the lettering with mineral spirits on Q-tips, and…..
WAS NOT HAPPY INITIALLY!

I was obviously disappointed after painting and was sure I’d have to write the paint off as rust protectant and start shopping for the caliper covers. But after putting the wheels back on and letting the paint set up, it looks “ok” to me. No where near the look and quality of powder coating, but for 1/5th the price I’m ok with it.

I winced a bit when you said it was a brush on. I have never got any better results than that with brush on stuff on metal. If you ever decide to do it over again it would not be too hard to strip that with some citristrip and start over.

Thx, ttocs. I’ll keep that in mind should this crap out on me or if I decide it’s not up to snuff on how I want it to look after all.

its not a super powerful stripper but its also not toxic and you can use it indoors. Just use more coats and let it sit overnight.
