You guys like the blue? I was told "red, black or nothing" by most guys...

not too shabby... for future reference, i would take out the brake pads, and remove the brake anchor from the caliper
to get a little more coverage.. but nice job.

Yeah, I would have known to do that, but a friend of mine who was helping me taped off and sprayed primer before I got a chance to check his work... I figured it would look worse to do the right thing on the other side, since it wouldn't match. The brake pads need to be changed soon anyway.

I would not have chosen blue for a white car but it doesn't look bad.

That's what people were telling me, but I really don't like the red calipers, and would like to add more blue touches to the interior eventually, and wanted it matching throughout, instead of bombardment on your sense of vision. (Wow, run-on sentence.)

Looks great, a heck of a lot better than the red they were before! Looks like a good work in progress (commenting on the car itself)

And today I just found a set of PBR (99+ brakes) for 45 bucks. Sounds like these might not stay on too long. I'm glad I have plenty of paint left. :santa_afro:

I'll give you guys an update if that comes through.

It'll be even better with some new additions that will be on the car soon. 1st of 3 knows what I'm talking about. :santa_evil:

I have never liked blue but to each his own. All that matters is that you like it.

excuse me? I'm pretty sure you sprayed before I did lol. Your hand is in the picture of the spraying on the first side.

Tryin to make me look bad eh? lol

And yeah, I was the one telling him red or black ftw, but that being said, this looks pretty good.

If those brakes fit on the II, when youswap to the bigger ones, I might have to take them off your hands

I do remember mentioning the brake pads though, which you said was "just a hassle". ;)

At risk of sounding like an ass...

That's horrible. Regardless of my personal preferences for the color or not, the work quality is not there. Be it naive or lazy, this is exactly how I would recommend NOT painting calipers. First, with calipers with that kind of age on them, I would recommend nothing short of sandblasting to adequately prepare the surface and make sure it lasts more than a week. Those calipers are going to be subjected to some ridiculous temperatures. Secondly, the caliper and caliper mounting assemblies should be entirely disassembled - pins, bolts, rubber boots, brake pads, hardware kit all removed.

Sorry to be a little harsh, but work like this degrades people's respect for your car and yourself as a car modifier. It is, and looks, half completed. Petting egos only reproduces more work like this - look at what has happened to Hondas. A couple guys taped huge wings to their trunks, threw on eBay bodykits, and no one ever told them how much it sucked, so it encouraged more. Shotty work needs to be weeded out by harsh, constructive criticism.

Good attempt, but it looks like you have your work cut out for you for next time.

I appreciate your comment very much. When I was told how to do this I was told that I should do whatever masking off I had to in order to NOT disconnect the brake lines. The pads not getting taken off was, and I admit to it fully, a DUMB idea, but I'm getting new pads soon anyway, and it's not being driven until they get here anyhow. If I may, as you have, be harsh, Painting calipers is not something that has any real use, and as such is a "fun project." Seriously, if you are willing to spend hours disassembling and putting your brakes back together for a simple paint that in itself took us over 3 hours to complete, then more power to you, but they will LOOK the same whether you disassemble them completely, paint each piece (if painting it all the same color) and put it back together, or you spray everything you could possibly see, then put the calipers back on, and no one sees anything but a new coat of paint. Again, little things like taking out the brake pads that were not acceptable, but all in all, they look fine despite the process. The worst thing that could happen would be the paint coming off, in which case I'll put your more thorough procedure to the test. If they hold up though, I can see no reason to try again though.

Again, I appreciate your comment, and can see where you're coming from, but taking such a mundane project so seriously is in my opinion a waste of breathe.
