painted plastic intake?

has anyone on here ever tried painting their plastic intake before? whether it be PI on npi..
not sure if its really even possible because of the materials.. but i just figured maybe i'd ask to see if it would even be worth while trying..

anyone ever tried or seen one painted a different color?

Yeah, you can paint it, and the valve cover's if you want to. Just make sure you take ur time and use good paint.

that looks good.. pretty much exactly what i wanted to do to mine.
figure'd it would give the engine a little better of a look instead of everything black. stand out a little more.

and recommendations for type of paint?

I used your standard hi-temp engine paint. Probably even a little overkill for the application. I put on 1 coat of primer...then about 2 coats of the Silver paint. When I do my PI cams I plan on doing my valve covers silver with the insets painted blue. Dalamar did it first . I thought it looked hot.

so did you polish the plenum and t/b? I want to polish them and then paint the ford blue on the ford emblem. I would like to polish the aluminum crossover on the pi intake too. ... I like the intake though, did you have to sand them down any or just spraid primer and the the paint... any clear on top of that? just wondering . thanks

No I didn't polish them, I painted all of those things the same color silver as the intake. I just cleaned it all very well before I painted them. I painted the ford emblem blue and left the FORD letters outlined in silver. I didn't use clear because I wanted the more flat look.

to be honest, i think my car is goin to look exactly like mike.'s. thats what i planned on for awhile now. uj beat me to it all tho! haha

Lol, not on any measurable scale, although what you say is technically true. It would be like saying 5.0's painted black put out more power than 5.0's painted blue.
