I have a question concerning the pi intake manifold. I dont have much knowledge on this subject so please go easy on me.

It is my understanding that a pi intake manifold must be (drilled and tapped) for a second coolant sensor located on my 98gt?
Is (drilling and tapping) something as simple as it sounds or do i need specific tools that will cost more than what their worth, etc.

I know livernois has a complete kit for 500$ but thats kinda pricey. Would it be best if i took a pi intake manifold to an auto shop and just have them (drill and tap)?

Also the location of the drill and tap for the second sensor is located on that first aluminum runner? (think its aluminum)

thanks all

For the coolant sensor, if you dont have a tap and dye, take it to a shop. Most places will do it for 20 bucks.

Youre going to tap the sensor on the PI intake manifold where it would have been on you NPI intake. Right by the water neck area. 3/8 I believe

Or should I just wait, save myself any confusion, and just get the livernois kit?
Just depends on how comfortable you feel doing the RTV method and installing
RTV around the water ports.I know their is a good write up somewhere on the RTV method.
The Livernois Motorsports PI intake adapter plate kit is what I had on my first mustang.
It really is a good kit for the money.I did install mine myself and it was a pretty easy straight
forward install.Just make sure you replace all of your gaskets so you don't have any leaks and
completely flush and refill your coolant since you are already in there.
I would also consider a custom dyno tune.
My car ran fine with the PI intake and didn't run on a lean condition until I installed PI camshafts.

I didn't lose any power after installing the Livernois adapter plates and PI intake.
My mustang was dyno tuned shortly after installing the PI intake
and adapter plates and I don't recall losing any power.
The RTV method has been done successfully many times and
if you are comfortable installing a PI intake using RTV then do so.
From what I have seen you only have to use a small dab of RTV on the water jacket.
I didn't want to chance having a possible leak so I used the Livernois adapter plates.
The adapter plates from Livernois Motorsports are 300.00 if you purchase them separate.
