I just done a PI intake swap. But now i'm second guessing myself. I just realized on only RTV'd the front passenger coolant port. I used PI gaskets. The driver rear also needs RTV correct? completely forgot to put it on that side. Just wanting to verify that it will leak if i don't pull the intake back off and and RVT the driver rear coolant port. I hadn't started the engine yet.

yes it will leak and you need to make sure you redo the passenger side to because it will leak after you put it back together for the second time. i did it. lol

you can just set the intake gasket on the head and see where it isnt going to seal...also i recommend being very generous with the rtv.

i figured this much. stupid me for overlooking stuff.

How long did the swap take you guys? For me it seemed to take a much longer amount of time then it should have. I don't know why, its not like i goofed off or just took my good ol time, but the swap took me from 9am till midnight.

This car fights me tooth and nail every time i work on it, lol.

Modulars are something you dont rush, you get a plan, see what you want to do, get the procedure and go from there. there are a lot of emission control , electrical wiring and just a large amount of parts in a small area.

hmm.. lets see. $500 OR

I get an intake from a friend for free. and about ~$100 worth of parts from the local parts house and Ford dealer.

Tough call.

Also adapter plates move the injectors higher and alter where they spray. Factory manifold has them in a position to spray right where they need to. Lifting the intake with a spacer causes the injectors to not spray in the factory intended location.

Intake is milled down to offset the location of everything , plus the fuel is going to hit inside the cylinder heads and valves before it enters the combustion chamber , talk to someone thats been left on the side of the road from the silicone leaking and see if the $500 dollars to do it right is worth the trouble and the tow bill

lol I did my p.i. Swap for $600

exactly. If i'm going to spend that kind of money, i'm going to lurk around ebay, and forum classifieds for a set of PI heads also.

I'd pay the extra for the complete PI swap, but not $500 just to get a PI intake on the car.

Dont listen to the adapter plate lovers, RTV when done right will last and wont leak. Do a search and get the diagram of where it all needs to go and be very generous with it. If you mess it up a couple times, no biggie, every time you take that intake off it gets easier and easier and will only take 30 min to rip it off again

I like the idea of adapter plates, they didn't have them when I did my intake swap. As for rtv holding up, mine has been on the car with rtv a looooong time and I have never had a prob.

just gunk on the RTV. It will seal just fine. I used them on every port just for the sake i knew they were sealed up. Just take it back off, clean up the surface, re-lay a couple of beads of silicon, and bolt her back up. If you can let it sit for a while before you fire it to let the silicon cure. I actually let mine sit over night just for the peace of mind.
