So I might buy a PI intake. I can get it for $85 with 40k miles on it. I thought that was a pretty decent price. What kind of hp gane can I expect from adding the intake to a fairly stock 96 gt?

just the intake i believe people are seeing no more than 10 or so... the top end opens up really well though, ive driven just a PI intake car and then a full PI intake and heads... the heads are where its at, heads and intake are about 25 if im not mistaken... Ive got a PI intake i would sell for dirt cheap... but it doesnt have the aluminum cross over...

You will probably pick up a solid 10-12 rwhp from it... PI heads+PI cams are where most of the gains come from.. Not so much of the heads as everyone once thought

Yeah, I would do it.. And it's better than the whole npi crap

edit: as long as it's the one with the alum crossover.

probably, they go for like 200 brand new out of the box. remember if you do it you will have to buy those special type of gaskets to hook up to non pi heads

There is no special type of gasket unless you're talking about adapter plates... And they are "necessary" because just a small dab of RTV with PI gaskets will work just fine..

Check out our 4.6 section where there is a whole stickey about this swap.

^^It's the poor man's gasket adapter, go to the 4.6 forum and check out the PI intake/cams sticky... That's how I put mine together. Only thing that sucks is waiting for the RTV to cure, some guys slap it together and go others wait 24 hours then go... I did the 24 hours myself
