I was thinking of going with Autolite Platinum Plugs, anyone has experience with them? I hear a lot of people talking about NGK plugs how are they? If you use them what part number are they?

the stock plugs are platinum.
however, believe it or not, copper plugs work better than the plats. the coppers just dont last nearly as long as the plats.
if you plan on changin them every 20-30k, then go with the coppers.
plus they are about $1 each

Plugs are deffinately something Ive heard you should stick with from the factory. Use motocraft plugs, just like the ones that came in your car.

from my own experience, Autolite platinums were no different than Motorcraft platinums in my car - but I run coppers now because the engiine is much smoother with them. IMHO, dont waste the money on plats, just get $1/each coppers and be done with it :thumb:

DONT USE AUTOLITES....They ARE different than motorcraft.....the Motorcraft are better quality and sit deeper in the head.....the threads are longer....just got rid of the autolite double platniums i had in my car...it was starting to misfire.....the plugs were arching and i only had them in for 6 months!!!

Copper is a much better conductor of electricty than platinum, even though it does wear out sooner. NA cars with copper plugs need to be changed every 15-20K. On blower cars, change them every 5-10K.

2V NA -AWSF-22C gapped to .050"
2V PA -AWSF-12C gapped .032"-.040"
4V NA/PA-AWSF-22C NA gap .050"
PA gap .025"-.035"

i'm a memeber over on svtp, and that is the gap that EVERY 96-98 cobra uses over there. i know it's not much proof, but obviously it works!

No offense man but just because everybody does it doesn't make it right.

I've got a set of NGK Iridium IX plugs (TR55IX or (PN# 7164) I'm going to try next in my 04 PI crate motor. I will report back how they do. :)

I'm running .054 gapped autolite coppers on my 96. No complaints here. When I get a pa I'm going over to the new autolite iridiums.
