This morning i was driving my 97 with the summer tires on it :BangHead: and i put it into a snow bank. So i started spinning the tires in reverse and i noticed that the tire that was all the way on the road would spin for a second and then stop and let just the buried tire spin. I thought posi meant they would both spin and i thought i had it, in fact i asked the shop to look at it while doing gears and they said the posi was fine and does not need to be replaced. Does posi not work in reverse? If it is broken how do i fix it?

In my 98 V6 I had the left rear would never spin but the right one would, traction control. IDK if it's the same in GT's.

the left tire wouldnt spin because v6 mustangs have open differentials. all v8 mustangs have T-loks form the factory. traction control wasnt available until 1999 on all mustangs.

thats an open differencial, thats what my old V6 did too.

GTs have trac-lok, which means that both wheels are powered when driving, but if one is stuck, its stuck (such as if one is stuck in the snow). if you jack up the car by the differencial, and spin 1 wheel. 1 will go forward, 1 will go backwards.

I dropped in an eaton 8.8 posi in my mustang and now, when i jack up the car and spin teh wheels, they go the same direction. both wheels are powered at all times.
