I know I am new here so I apologize if this is a thread topic already somewhere else. I tried searching for it but came up with nothing in a single topic. As the title says I am curious if there is a dedicated thread to power gains or considerable improvements per each aftermarket or stock swapped part. For example how much better or more noticeable would gt40 heads and intake be over a stock gt. Or a 70mm throttle body over stock. But all wrapped up into one single thread. Reason I ask is because I am getting ready to starting modding my GT more now that I have gotten it restored to its factory glory (from the kid who trashed it before I bought it). And it would be a lot easier to figure out what the best bang for my buck would be and what mods can be done that give the most improvement with the least amount of cost. Without having to spend hours searching to figure out where to start. There are a lot of experienced people here who know significantly more than I when it comes to mustangs. And everyone could put there own 2 cents in or when they do research for a specific part they are going to buy they post what info they find and it is added to a "Master List" so to speak. Just something I was thinking about as I am doing research for mods. Thanks for your time. Example GT40 heads - xxHP more than stock $400,000 BBK CAI - 500HP more than stock $1,000,000 Flame sticker 1000HP per sticker more than stock $799,000,000 so on $arm so forth $leg etc. $left testicle
Dyno section: http://www.sn95forums.com/forumdisplay.php?69-Dyno-Performance It has a lot of info on combos and real life power #s. Figure if your GT has 180-200rwhp, depending on tranny and assuming it's healthy. http://www.sn95forums.com/showthread.php?61179-SN95-5-0-n-a-dyno-s Specific to 5.0 n/a. Cost is subjective to a lot of stuff. New vs used, discounts, whether you do the work or have a shop do it, etc. I bought a pair of rebuilt GT40P heads for $125 with upgraded valvetrain, had to replace 4 bent valves. My E303 cam was about $130, BBK headers $100, x-pipe $80, pulleys I traded for performance pulleys, SN Cobra intake $280, BBK CAI $80, 1.7rr $90, adj. FPR $25. All stuff came either from forum classifieds or craigslist.
And what power did you start with Rich? How much now? I will soon be following in your footsteps...Just picked up the E303 cam BNIB for $175...not a great bargain maybe but it's all new.
Okay cool, I know a lot of forums are big on using the search so I tried that I guess I wasn't really looking for the right stuff. That is also another reason why I joined the forum for the Classifieds. Craigslist here comes up pretty dry unless you own a fox body. But I did find and entire interior on the Dayton Craigslist for $75 last year so I made the drive, came home with door panels, dash(with harness), airbags, carpet, steering wheel, all of the plastic pieces and a gauge cluster. I'm not opposed to driving to get parts either. I love driving it just because pRt of the adventure after that. Thanks for the info.
I really don't know, the motor came from my Fox race car, I just adapted the SN electronics. But my old 86 with a Cobra intake and BBK shortys was at 200rwhp. Stock cam and E7 heads. With the GT40p heads, GT40 intake, E303, and other mods listed above it made a best of 272rwhp. Probably could be dialed in for a few more ponies with a custom tune.
A lot of 5.0 stuff will work on both SN/Fox. So even if the parts are on, or for Foxes, they may work for you. Intakes (Fox intake needs an elbow or Fox t/b conversion) and heads, cams, some exhausts, etc.
Thanks Rich...that sounds good enough for me...for right now. I have the E303, 95 Cobra upper & Lower thinking about a TMoss porting on that...a 65mm Ford Racing new throttle body, BBK cold air, BBK off road H with Magnapacks catback...stock 94 headers......need to buy the AFR Renegade heads, 24lb injectors, a bigger Mass air, some RR's, etc & then find someone to tune my 94 probably a Super chip.... I just want a fun reliable easy driving not finicky car for fun times with the wife.
I can always post up questions on part compatibility here and have people that know about mustangs tell me yes or know. That's why I love forums and online communities.
I attempted to start something similar to what you're talking about a few years ago. They never really picked up, but I broke it up into different sections. If you'd like to check them out... Could be a pretty useful database. If I got some more interest, I would totally try to keep it updated.
I thought it would be somewhat helpful for people like me. I'm a mini trucker and import guy, this is my first v8 I've owned other than f150
