Lol. I had a brand new 1987 iroc with a 5.7. Think it was 245hp. But like I said, didn’t buy it to be a racecar so it is what it is

Approaching 300rwhp in these cars is much different than 400hp in something newer due to the weight (or lack thereof). A typical SN comes in around 3300# or so?

Yeah my other fast cars were 1957, 1969 and 1970 and were all around 3400lbs but I was pushing 552 HP in the '57, 650 HP in the '69 and the '70 was only around 400 HP, all at the crank. Actually I had a bone stock 454 in the '69 Chevelle when I first got it and ran 12.96. Figure that was around 350-400HP at the crank.

I'm 'passively' looking for a set of GT40 heads and intake. Not sure if I'll go that route but still haven't tracked down that AF leak but if I find I have to pull a head to fix it then I'll likely upgrade and probably go with a small cam upgrade. Nothing too wild. Would try to stay under .500 and under 220* @ .050. I did pick up a used 65mm BBK TB and BBK CAI but haven't put those on yet.
