Well, I wanted to change the temp sending unit in the lower intake today. Put one layer of teflon tape on the sensonr with a tiny amount of RTV up top. Just snugged it up and the damn thing cracked my lower intake and when the car is running it pisses coolant everywhere! Now I had to overnight a used manifold so I can get her running by Friday to drive it to the shop to start all my suspension installs and get her scheduled for paint. What a PITA it is to get all the shit off on a 5.0 to get that lower manifold off. SOOOOOOOOOOOO Much easier on a 4.6 lol

well be happy ya don't have the plastic intake the new edges had.

Yeah true but I never broke a 4.6 intake when tightening stuff on them hehe. And this ting literally snapped as if it were plastic. Ugh. For people who attempt this in the furutre, the specs are 8-18ft lbs!

You went way past tight man to crack it , they only need to be snug with some thread sealant it's pipe thread so it's tapered it doesn't take much for it to not leak.

I would have thought the aluminum threads would have torn out before cracking it unless there was already something really weak/thin right there. I put mine on by hand and got it snug and I was not breaking out the kunk-foo grip to do it.

I'm thinking it was already weak becuase it wasn't even close to being all the way in. Oh well, on goes the gt40 manifold :)
