The same pump I mean all of the 96-98 gt are return style fuel systems

98 was a bit of a bastard year with regards to certain things on these cars, such as exhaust systems, fuel systems and computers.

I would get a Focus SVT pump, or a Lincoln Aviator pump (flows more than a Focus pump).

You can pick up a Focus svt pump for like 89 bucks and it's a 255lph pump.. the difference in pumps:

96/97 Gt's

98 Gt's

just buy a Focus SVT fuel pump and remove the actually pump itself and place it in your housing.. that is all that I did

EDIT: Hope this helps

Call Tousley Ford, 1-800-328-9552 ask for Steve in the parts dept. They prolly have it in stock, and Im pretty sure they ship the same day.
They charge like 10-15% over their cost.

yeah, just go through Ford they are under 100 bucks for it and it's a very easy mod just drop your tank and i didn't even disconnect all my hard lines just pulled out the housing and then removed the pump and replaced with the new one.. you'll get the entire assembly like the one in the picture and you can remove the focus pump first to see how it's done...

really is an easy mod

The '98 has the '99 style fuel system. No return.

i'm not sure what your plans are for your car, but if you are wanting to make power and supply your fuel all the way up to 55lb injectors the AFM external pump can supply 55lb injectors on a 255lph pump and stock (STOCK) fuel lines..

55lb injectors can handle the follow...
N/A approx. 700 hp .50 B.S.F.C.
S/C approx. 520 hp .65 B.S.F.C.
Turbo approx. 580 hp .60 B.S.F.C.

this is running at 80& duty cycle....

again not sure what you plan on doing with the car, but the 255 is a good place to start

So does the 98's have an internal and external fuel pump? I ask this because when I was changing my fuel filter there was a fuel pump outside the tank right before the filter.

My 98 did not have an external pump, just the intank, but it was a return style setup. I've got the intank vortec pump for the 98 and I've been running it with 42# injectors for a while now with no problems.

Check the part numbers on each, they should be the same.

98's have a return style with a variable voltage pump. Also they don't have an adjustable regulator on the fuel rail, it is built right in.
