I hope you all realize this stuff is mass produced in China

All that is happening is parts are sent over from china, they show up at a rented out warehouse or garage where there's a small team repackaging the product into another box, slap an address on the box and load everything into a truck that goes to their delivery company of choice. Also "free shipping" isn't really free they just tack it onto the price and continue to make 120% profit. Almost all of these "body kit" companies do it

I was pretty sure this stuff was common sense by now

Actually, unless something has changed, that is 100% incorrect.

When I lived in Dallas, they made all their stuff in house/on site. You could walk around and see it all going on - well at least they showed me around when I bought stuff from them in person. They even used my car to do some test fitting for wings. I was one of the first to run the double stacked Saleen SR wing on a fox trunk (Ok, I know not the brightest thing, but I was younger... a LOT younger). And it fit perfectly when it was handed over to me.
I also walked around there facility about a 2 years ago. I asked for something that wasn't in stock..they made it for me and I picked it up the next day..

I'm not saying they can't or don't make their own stuff, I'm saying the stuff that's in high demand is mass produced in some factory for cheap, that's why there's tons of inconsistencies with the parts, cause there's no product control. Any reputable company who cared about wtf they do would check their products before they're shipped. Even if the stuff was made somewhere else, wouldn't it be smart to at least check the stuff before you shipped it? You know... prevent the hassle of having to deal with customers calling and complaining and having them send stuff back.

I'm not saying all companies, Yes there are reputable companies that make all of their stuff, I guess you can say I was using the word "body kit" like the way most of you guys use the word "ricer"

I've walked around a certain companies repackaging facility before, My friend manages it and it's actually a pretty neat operation to watch. They repackaged everything in one warehouse, stored it all in another warehouse, and the company/store was in the next city over.

Maybe they repackage, maybe I'm wrong and they don't... but when I can go on a Chinese reseller website and see the exact same crap on ABC's website... yea that's a red flag right there. Secondly it's 2012, it's not hard to make a website look nice. Why would you buy from a company who's website looks like it was made back when AOL 3.0 came out or has magazine ads with pixelated pictures, If they can't put effort into their company image they sure as hell aint putting effort into the products they're selling you.

Thats one thing I really dont like about them either. That website has been the same forever and thats fine if it was nice to begin with but it does look like something back back in the mid 90's of the internet. And their magazine adds are not any better either.

Again I must make the same exact point, I can deal with small flaws in the product itself, what I cannot tolerate is the HORRIBLE customer service of ABC

They don't answer the phone or emails and if you do get through to the owner all he will ever offer is a refund if you pay for full return shipping. Like the OP said, he recieved wrong parts, why would anyone make you pay to ship those parts back when it was clearly their mistake?

some of their parts they do make in house and some are outsourced from other places. i did question the owner about that and i could actually hear the lady in the background ordering the A/B chemicals they use to make the bumpers........which tells me they are and epoxy based abs and not urathane. but my side scoops that cover the factory vents they order from someone else, they were urathane and of great quality and my wing was fiberglass and of superb quality. the only parts that werent so great are the parts they do make...................go figure!!! lol

about all i can do is laugh right now and hope that they send me the right shit and its better than before.

again ill let you all know as this unfolds!!

I have debated over those side scoops a few times, seen them on a couple cars, loved them on some, hated on others so I decided just to save my money

on certain cars i like them. on certain cars i dont................if the body is completely stock they dont look right. on cars with a little more done to the body they can blend in. its just like my cobra r bumper, ive seen some that they looked great on and others that looked horrible. i guess it all just depends on the whole package.

They actually say right on the website some parts are fiberglass some urathane. Some styles they off both (price reflects both options).

^^^thats all fine and dandy but if you look at the website the parts that i ordered are only shown available in urathane and what i received is not urathane at all. urathane is a black rubberized material that is extremely flexible. the yellowish harder material that these bumpers are made of is much harder and not rubber like at all. they are made from the same TYPE of material that fords factory bumpers are made from which is an epoxy based abs plastic. All in all they need to change what they advertise as it is not correct.

update.....................

called today and was told that my bumpers would be shipped at the end of the week due to some machine breaking and they are behind making new bumpers...............
.............not 20 seconds after i hang up the owner calls me back and tells me that he is not replacing the fromt bumper due to it being trashed and looking like it had been on car and abused for several months.....
.................then he proceeded to tell me that i lied to him and told him it hadnt been on the car and that it was trashed on the top and sides and bottoms and all kinds of other garbage..........
......................then goes on to tell me that he isnt even going to bother shipping back from front and that im basically SOL!!!!!

breathing in deep breaths and counting back from 10................NOT FUCKING HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!

this is what happens when you try and save $200.00!!!! i should of stuck with my gut feeling and got the cervinis bumper, but no i thought id try to save a little and trust someone else. ive had cervini's parts on a few cars and never really had any issues. the only part i ever had an issue with they took care of with no questions asked.

if i ever get the front bumper back its going straight to ebay then ill order from cervinis!!!!!!

I'm totally staying out of the discussion of the materials. There is a lot of misinformation being thrown around. Let me just say that not all urethane is black. There are also many different kinds of urethanes.

I'm not defending the company. I contacted ABC years ago about setting up a wholesale account. They never even bothered to send the paperwork, I quickly learned that they were not a company that I wanted to use.

My only point is that you should research companies and their products very carefully before placing an order. It's not like it was back in 1998, there is a wealth of information out there. Buyer beware.

I agree that there are a number of ways to find out about the place you plan to buy from, but if there are so many members here that have had bad experiences with them then why don't we start a section to let members tell their story? I think it would be a good idea to have a good and a bad side so we can tell about our personal experiences with these companies to help future purchases not have these problems.

I totally agree with Scott. We need a section like this for this exact reason. I did research for quite some time and didn't really find
Anymore bad things said about abc than you'd find about anyone else. Unfortunately I'm catching the tail end because there hasn't
Been much discussed about them. When I searched I only found 1 complaint in the BBB and not much on the forums. I had seen
That other members on here had used them and figured ok. 69clark used them and has some of the same pieces I ordered. I tried
Contacting him a few times but never got any replies. I think 95opal used them and I couldn't find where he complained either.

I don't know how much more I could really research. I googled the shit out of them and there wasn't much to go on. We do need a section to discuss vendors good and bad for every one to search through.
