Interesting... I always thought MMR was pretty okay. I was planning on getting my shortblock through them at some point in life lol

Hoooley what a joke with the valves .... You're not the first person I've heard of having issues with MMR .... Glad it's all sorted out in time for winter lol. Those heads are looking really nice , can't wait to see the end result

Nice build!

Where about in central IL are you? I'm in Bloomington. Kind of curious who did your heads?

Fwiw, I had a MMR shortblock in my car. It was never right from the start, didn't make the power it should have and died in spectacular fashion with about 3k miles on the clock. During teardown I found bearing clearances were way off, and they didn't seem to know how to use a torque wrench. Above all that, they screwed up the original order, lied to me and told me things over the phone that directly contradicted what they wrote in PM's I had with them, and were only ever full of excuses as to how nothing was their fault. I'll never spend one penny with them again. I just had a local shop build a shortblock for me and clean up a set of 03/04 heads. Going to pick them up in about an hour, actually. I'm pretty stoked!
